6 Inspiron Gaming Series (Pandora) (2015-2018).Hi, this thread helping me a lot, but i still have de "Frontt I/O cable failure". I have to add that at first i shorted red and blue out of convenience but the board would randomly refuse to power on at times, this was fixed after some soldering to connect it the proper way. I don't have the board anymore so had to use google, but this is the way i wired up mine. There is a 3 pin short on the 16pin cable, and two more shorts -> one on the audio cable and one on the left usb if any of these is missing you will get the i/o cable failure message.ĮDIT: for the 5pin PWR_SW pinout -> use black + yellow for PWR_ON (actual power switch) and short red + yellow to get rid of the error. Will post a solution when i have time to actually apply the fix to the board in case someone else needs help solving this. I've managed to get my hands on a working Optiplex 390 and was able to measure the cables. I've tried shorting random pins on the header with no luck, i've also shorted the audio and usb headers in case they were the ones giving the error (HP mobo got fixed this way) but still nothing. More pictures of the motherboard if it helps. It did help me get rid of the pwr button failure but i'm left with the i/o failureĪlso there seems to be two ways to power on the mobo: I've found a similar topic on this forum but it only addresses the 6pin power header and a 20pin front panel. Dell seems hell bent (pun intended) on making project like this as difficult as possible. I've successfully managed to transplant an HP SFF mobo in an ATX case before but that time i had the original case and the biggest challenge there was the 12vsb instead of 5vsb on regular ATX PSUs. I only have the motherboard so using the original case to figure out what goes where is out of the question.

I've managed to fix the PWR button failure warning by shorting pins on the 6pin header but i've yet to figure out how to get rid of the pesky i/o failure warning when the PC boots up.

Greetings, I've been trying to use a dell mobo in a normal ATX case but i'm stuck trying to figure out dell's proprietary pinout for the front panel headers.
